Silent Sky: Constellations, Perspectives, and Women in Science - Fall 2022
|
OSA was excited to partner with UMN Theater for their production of Silent Sky, a play about astronomer Henrietta Leavitt, her experience as a woman in science, and how her discoveries changed how we think about the universe. OSA's exhibit premiered in the Rarig Center lobby, showcasing Leavitt's groundbreaking work, the life and research of other women scientists throughout history, and how our perspective shapes our understanding of the cosmos. <- Contributions of women scientists have been historically less recognized compared to male colleagues. A few of their stories are summarized here.

TELLUS Climate Change/White-Tailed Deer Exhibit - Spring 2022
OSA has been working with local choreographers from Analog Dance Works for the past few years as they develop dances inspired by white-tailed deer and humans' psychological responses to climate change. After a long covid delay, we were excited to see these works finally on stage!
OSA put together an interactive exhibit exploring the effects of climate change on local and global scales, investigating the effects of climate change on white-tailed deer in Minnesota, and demystifying the inner workings of climate models. The exhibit was in the Tek Box theater lobby before and after all performances.
